Information We Ask You to Provide

If you choose to create an account with us and become a member, you will be asked to select a username and password. We will ask you to provide certain personal information, such as first name, last name, and email address, in creating your user profile. Once created, the user profile may be viewable by the general public. (You may, however, disable this option via your profile settings.) If you donate via the Website, we will also ask you to provide your mailing address for tax-deductible receipt purposes.

makmad.org e.V. and any associated charitable organization have access to all information you submit to the Website.

You may also post information, such as comments, texts, images, videos, and other content (aka “Materials”) to the Website. Any Materials you post to the Website may be viewable by the general public and are governed by our Terms of Use.

Our Use of Information You Provide

If you create an account with us, we may send project updates, a monthly newsletter, system notifications, and other communications to your email. You may opt out by adjusting the settings in your user account. We will also use the information you submit to the Website to facilitate completion of your donations made via the Website and to provide you with tools to manage and monitor your transactions.

makmad.org e.V. is an independent association, tax-exempt nonprofit that is the recipient of all donations that are made through the Website. makmad.org e.V. maintains a donor advised fund in good standing with current tax-exempt from the German IRS. In furthering its charitable research and educational mission, the Association has agreed to serve as a trusted charity facilitator of choice. When you make a donation to makmad.org e.V. and re-grant recommendation (“advisement”) to any qualified project listed on the Website, you grant us permission to access your donation records at any time.

Unless you request that your donor advisement be anonymous, we or makmad.org e.V. will make available to your selected project online reports identifying, where available, the name, address, email, employer (if optionally provided) and transaction accounting details of the advised contribution. Unless you request that your donor advisement be anonymous, makmad.org e.V. will also share your name, address, email, employer (if optionally provided) and transaction accounting details of your donation with qualified organizations administrating giving events (“Giving Event Administrator”) in which you participate. If you choose to make your advisement anonymously, we will share only the donation amount and your employer (if optionally provided) of the advised and completed re-grant with your selected project, fundraiser, and/or Giving Event Administrator.

If you have participated in a giving event through makmad.org e.V., we or the Giving Event Administrator may send you a one-time, post giving event survey to completed. If you choose to participate in the survey, your feedback on the survey will be shared with the Giving Event Administrator. You will not receive the survey if you have requested that your donor advisement be made anonymously.

Your information may also be provided to third parties – such as (for example) the credit card company, the sponsoring bank, and/or the bank issuing the credit card – for the purpose of processing the credit card (or other) charitable transaction. Should you provide us with information related to a matching gift, your information will be shared with third parties for the purpose of processing the matching donation.

makmad.org e.V. will, however, never share your personal information, donation activity, or email address with any other third party without your prior consent (except as may be required by law – see “Legal Requirements” section below).

We will use your contact information to send you information concerning your donation, including without limitation a donation confirmation and any notices about problems with your credit card.

Security

makmad.org e.V. takes security seriously and we take reasonable measure to protect our user’s information. All transaction and credit card information entering the system is encrypted using GeoTrust SSL certificates hosted with domainfactory GmbH Germany. We are not, however, responsible for any information you share with other users of the Website or other third parties.

Privacy Protection for Children

This Website is not directed to children under the age of thirteen. In compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, we do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from persons under the age of 13 through the Website or otherwise. If we later learn that any user is under the age of 13, or that we have inadvertently received personally identifiable information from a user under the age of 13 through the Website, we will take appropriate steps to remove that user’s information from the database and restrict that user’s access to the Website.

Because we do not collect any personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13 via the Website, we also do not knowingly distribute such information to third parties, and we do not condition the participation of a child under 13 in the Site’s online activities on providing personally identifiable information.
